I enjoy travelling, which is also the driving force behind my learning and practising foreign languages(I speak a few African languages, German, Japanese, and of course French).I find it hard to conceive of a travelling venture that doesnt include extensively exchanging with the locals.And knowing their language does help doesnt it?
